good day all

I was wondering if someone can help me here.

First off when I got up this m orning I noticed that in the alage on the back of my tank there are lots of air bubbles in it for not apparent reason.

Second there is all kinds of orange areas on the bottom of my tank and I have no idea what they are. They are ont he side of my tank where there is less flow and I don't know what the hell it is.

Any one got any idea on either or even both of these things?

Thanks

If it looks like what curt posted here then you probably have Dinoflagellates. Its easy to convince yourself (or let others do that for you) that its Cyano which is more common. I just got Dino out of my tank...it takes some work. Hopefully you have Cyano.

are the orange things like small rectangular dots? could be algale eating flatworms. Usually you will notice a few at a time though, and then they are all over. Any pics?

****edit: you said orange AREAS, I dont belive algae eating flatworms could be mistaken for a whole 'area' ignore that comment from me please :p Pics would be cool tho

I haven't added anything at all. it just showed up the other day I can move the substraight and it goes away but next morning its back again.

I am also wondering about the air bubbles that are in my alage and my skimmer sponge and again same thing I brush them away on next day or 2 thay are back. The only thing I can think of is that I moved my light down closer to my tank and maybe the lighting has somethign to do withe the bubbles its just a regular 4' tube light though

AFAIK any change in lighting at all can trigger a diatom outbreak. Even something as simple as replacing 6mo. old MH bulbs in an established tank. That is most likely your issue and should pass all on its own with good water quality.

The air bubbles are most likely from the conversion of nitrite to nitrates.
Nothing to worry about actually a good thing :)
Good old Nitrogen gas :)
