hello
please your advice
In a case we build a bb tank .. about 150 gallons
which is the best way for good looking result ?
I am talking about the glass bottom. because very often we use pieces of glass around for stronger structure … and without sand it is not very nice .. I hope you understand what I mean
thank you in advance !

Thank you

so you think is better to put the pieces of glass around the bottom ..
is that correct ?

I am not sure if I see correct the tank in picture you send ..

Fixed the title BTW.[/QUOTE] sorr...e to change something on the title of topic ?

I think understanding what the whole BB theory is will help you better set up your tank. The idea behind going BB is to remove waste before it begins to rot and rely on the biological process. This in simple terms mean heavy well placed flow. Heavy skimming and constant detritus removal.

Is that the sort of info your looking for. Any more questions, just ask.

the question is not about bb theory ..

but.. if we have to build a bb tank is it better to put pieces of glass around for stronger structure or we can do something else ..

Are you talking about glass under the rock work for it to sit on??

Don

That might be a reflection, It is just where the side meets the bottom as in a butt joint. No other support is used as in regular tanks with sand.

That is the answer for my question..

I have one tunze wave box .. so I have to build strong tank ..

that’s way I am asking about that pieces of supporting glass

the tank will have upper rim

thank both of you !!

You can also use something like white starboard or PVC board underneath as well like I did with my 38, 75 and 24 gal tanks. Not much reflection from it and protects the glass from falling rocks :)

Thank you Krish

I don’t know what is starboard .. I am looking for pvc board ..

or any other hard plastic ? white Plexiglas ? is it ok ?

I am planning a tank 47 in x 31,50 in x 25,60 in ( water level at 23,62 in )
with 0.47 in thickness
the bottom glass thickness will be 0.59 in
with wave box

Starboard is the expensive stuff...They usually use it to make doors etc on boats. I opted for the PVC board because is isn't as reflective :)

 there is one small shipyard next town .. I will ask for starboard ..
I don’t know were I have to look for pvc .. till now
thanks

I got my pvc board from a sign making company. They use it as a backing for their signs where they stick the vinyl stickers to. Maybe you can check one locally :)
