building a rock wall - Input please - Seattle aquarium

I'm sure some of you have been to the Seattle aquarium before. In there tropical fish dep. they have all the viewing windows surrounded by a rock (or at least I think its rock/concrete/something) wall. It looks as if your viewing the animals through cave. I wanted to do something like that for my tank. Have any of you tried this before, or had experience in this area? I have a couple ideas of how I think I could do it but just thought I'd ask here as well.

I would purchase the faux rock and fill in the gabs with expanding spray foam

I've used this stuff before but never inside a tank. Its pretty messy and its hard to sand by hand. Also it comes in different colors so make sure you dont get the yellow one.

What does the finished product look like. So when it drys does it harden. Sounds like cool stuff.
