Did it fly?
I am fighting a temp swing problem on my tanks. During the day the temp is 79/80 That is with the fans on. At nite it is around 76/77 with the fans off. I can live with that. But when the air temp is higher during the nite I have to run the fans to keep the temp under 82. But it brings the temp way down around 75. So why is the heater not keeping the temp at the min of what the heater is set at,79/79? Any thoughts?

So I am having a problem picking a pump due to the fact that I am not using a sump and over flow system but using an All in one set up.

Should I still look at deciding a pump the same way I would with that set up with wanting the flow to be 3x to 5x my DT size?

if so with the pipe laying flat on the tank floor would I still calculate the head by how long the pipe is going to be?

I thought the flow is to be 10 x the amount of gal for the DT.
So in your case that is about 21 gal. Does that sound right? If so you will need a pump to push approx. 210 gph. You need to figure in your head height and any elbows you might use.
You said your going to use the PVC along the bottom of the tank. Is that the only return you plan on using? Or are you going to split it at the pump and run one along the bottom and run one thru the divider wall up high?
If it were me I would look for a pump that is rated for 400gph and has an adjustable flow rate. I think Penair The QuiteOne pumps are adjustable flow.
There would be no head calc. for the pipe along the bott. only flow loss for elbows.
What kinda thought you have for securing the PVC to the bottom of the tank?

I was at Lowes and I saw an acrylic like pipe holder for walls and I was thinking of silicon the flat pieces to the bottom of the tank and having tube running through to hold it down.

Thought about actually splitting the tube under sand and having one on each side of the far side the tank.

Was thinking about having a koralia where the splitting and having it run through the wall would be just so I had more flow there instead of just the return

I like the idea of splitting the PVC at the far end. And then just the powerhead at the opp. side would be a good idea.
Any thoughts on the stand?

Not yet still just thinking about tank I need to talk to the lady about what she would like it being placed on... I know she has been asking for a storage (shelving unit) for our dining room (to place our stem ware and all the other miscellaneous dishes) so I was thinking about placing the tank on a stand that held that stuff plus anything I needed for the tank too, so the stand is going to have to be wider then the tank maybe even by a foot or so

JR :)

JR Are you still out there? Any updates on your build? I know ther is something running thru your brain. I cant build any more tanks on my end. You were helping me with my fix. lol Come on man let me know your wheels are still spinning.

Yeah I am alive, I have not done anything yet with the tank build. My appendicitis really hit hard. I am hoping to start the tank as soon as I can.

Get well soon. If you dont have your health you have nothing.
I can wait for my fix. As well as the tank can wait.
