In the general discussion thread it was concluded I have texas holey limestone as some of the rock in my tank. I happened to place my crocea on some of this rock, and am wondering if it may have any difficulty burrowing into this variety of rock.

When you read or hear about T. crocea "burrowing," is not the same as how they attach their bysal threads. T. crocea naturally "burrow" into substrates, almost completely burying themselves, except for their mantel. They bury most of their shell into the substrate. To do this, they secrete an acidic solution that softens or dissolves whatever substrate they're sitting upon. This is all something done in nature, but not in our aquariums. It's believed that if they don't start making their "burrow" at a very small size, they never do it. Here's some great reading on the particular subject.

Thanks for the article. That makes me much more comfortable about my clams lack of burrowing, lol.
