DIY Nuclear Rocket C-Reactor prototype #1 Built by Ziggy also know as Chad

#1 An overall pic of the reactor and plumbing

#2 Shows the bell shaped bottom to recirculate the effluent (more on that later)

#3 Shot of "the fish room" But you cant see the recliner. AND its all in MY garage.

#4 A size reference and pic of the reactor with no plumming

#5 This is looking down the top of the reactor. *Note the 3/4" pipe inserted in the bottom of the reactor. This pipe has slits on the underside and is the "OUT" of the system and does not allow CO2 or effluent to escape after one time thru the media like top exiting reactors. There are 1 inch holes around the circumference of the internal body of the pipe. These holes are 8 or so inches above the 3/4" OUT pipe which forces water and CO2 in and up thru the media to recirculate continuously bypassing the out pipe. Only fully saturated water can exit without CO2 in its gaseous form.See #8 for diagram.

#6 Thru in a sump pic, The skimmer has the effluent and PH probe & collector connected to the air intake so all effluent goes thru the skimmer to be processed

#7 Work bench with Kalk, C-Reactor, timed peristalic pumps controlling additives which are on the top shelf

#8 A diagram of the inner and outer shell/s of the reactor. Things were blacked out for your protection:D

***This is still in testing and any input or questions are welcome****
One test I am currently performing...........

I took the reactor down to 6.50, 10 bubbles & 40 drops per min
and then turned off the CO2 and as of now 1:12am the Co2 has been off 16 hours and the PH is at 6.65. Alk at over 30dkh(API) and Ca at 31 drops (API) 700+?/////
Ps it was easier to build than it was to describe I apologize for the run-on sentences.

Chad

He can't say. That's the problem...no one can get their hands on that stuff. That's why everything is blacked out on the drawing...Just like reading a government report!

And the mad-scientist thing is working out well eh Chad? You are getting good numbers too. As far as tuning a C-reactor, I would worry less about the bubble count and more about the water flow.

Salmonslayer-

It is used for adding chlorine to a commercial pool and spa by the company I work for. I got 2 new ones when a facility closed. I am not in the pool and spa division and cannot get others. However with my wife being let go from her nanny job today(her boss is in residential morgage writting) I do have one other C-reactor that I can build for a price which is curently undetermined as of now.

Sorry to hear that Chad, and I have a lot of confidence in you since you are so adapative. I mean, if my parents named me Chad, Chadwick, or anything resembling the sourge of the sea, I would have killed them in their sleep.

I'm sorry Salmonslayer, but did your dosing system come with keyed entry? Holy crap that is the shizit.

You know something strange happened when I clicked on the Image Shack link, "Do Fish Get Thirsty?" I completed the test, and I am pretty sure I got 100% since it's grade school stuff. I mean, how much dirt is in a hole? That's 2nd grade right?

But when it asked for my info. so I could get my score, I filled out with bogus stuff using an random email address, "[email protected]". Anyway, I got an error on the street address, so I typed in a real local address and ZIP. Then it returned a screen with somone else's info. in North Carolina, and an error saying my entry didn't match the real info!

Whats the toggle switch and the push putton do on the front?

Zig. One is for looks and the other is for, Hang on let me get back to ya. I have to check with my "inspector gedget guy". Answer coming soon.
Just kidding. One is to dose any time I like, the other is to shut it off/reset. Why you asking me you set it up. OOOOPPPPPSSSS

Yeah, I really like the dose-on-command thing. It's kind of a PITA with the LiterMeterIII. Not too bad but you have to navigate. It would be nice if it had a "feed" button!

You know I wonder if you could smash up coral food salmon eggs, coral frenz etc,etc small enough to auto feed.
Now thats getting LAZZY

I seriously want to build an auto-feeder that handles frozen food, thawing, rinsing, & feeding small amounts throughout the day.

 You just had to go there! Reminds me of when I was in college, and I had a keg iced in a garbage can next to my bed. I plumbed it with a drain hose that went into the shower and I would just toss in a bag of ice every day. I could drink out of the hose while lying down. hmmmm....seems I have some sort of pattern behavior?
