cabon in sump

In my BRS Dual reactor, I am running carbon in the first chamber. Then I have the water flow through high capacity GFO in the second chamber, and then through carbon again at the top of the second chamber.

I am using a Maxi-Jet 1200 as my feed pump. The water flow causes the top surface of the GFO to dance a bit. I am running the water through carbon first to filter out some of the detritus in the water before it gets to the GFO and causes the GFO to solidify like a brick.
