Does anyone run a calcium reactor that does not have a sump?

I am seriously considering moving to a calcium reactor, but i do not run a sump, and don't plan to add one to this system. Can I put the effluent into a high flow area like my kalk output?

Thanks for the help

I dont think the lack of a sump is a problem. You first need to decide where your going to put a reactor. Placement of the reactor will dictate the design.

Yes you can Reed. You can also use a fitting that screws into a pipe to inject it directly into a Pipe.

Cool! I was hoping that was the answer. So the fitting would be like an eductor? Pictures?

Don, The reactor would either go in the stand or beside the tank. The Kalk reactor is currently under the tank and feeds into the tank right next to the CLS output. I was thinking of a similar setup for a Calcium reactor.

Reed I looked for a pic but could find one. I have an extra one you can have. basically the tube fits in one end and the other end is a male 3/4 inch fitting, thier is also a check valve in it.

It came with a metered pump I bought.

Since you already have a CLS that makes it easy. You can get a pvc venturi from Aquatic eco to fit in line of your CLS (gets the effluent in the tank). To get it down to the reactor gravity or a ph will take care of that.

Now the problem is DPM. You need a way to adjust it since you can not count the drips. To cure this you can have your co2 and water input be one line (clear or semi-clear).
Simply put a "t" in your water input line about a foot away from the reactor connect the co2 to that line. Now when the reactor is running the input water will grab a co2 bubble and carry it to the reactor. You just need to count the time between bubbles. This is how my reactors are set-up and its very consistant.

Or you could just hang it over the side.

How about HOT Hang-on-tank) calcium reactor? MRC make this reactors, just hang it to the back of your aquarium.

Thanks Don. That's more or less what I was thinking.

Reefan, I don't have any more room to hang things on. I have the skimmer hanging and the CLS runs the rest of the length of the tank.

I like the idea of keeping everything below the tank, out of sight. I'm sure I can come up with a way to rig up a bubble counter to work as if I had a sump. That seems like the easy part. We'll see what happens. When I get to the project I will provide pics.

Thanks again all. Really appreciate the help.
