Calcium Reactors

Which one do you use? Where to get a killer deal?

How many of you find it necessary to use them in conjunction with a Kalk stirrer in order to offset their respective affluent PH's?

Some of you know I have 110gal Reef in the works that I have been planning for almost a month now. I just received my protein skimmer (Euro Reef ES6-2+, saved $183 by getting blemish unit from h20) and just decided on my RO/DI unit.

Now it is time to look at calc reactors. So any and all help will be much appreciated. I have read tons on them and been searching for weeks now, but I just can't seem to chose. The 1502 is always a nice choice, but not for that price. How many or you have Aquamedics 400/100, ReefTek, My Reef creations, Geo, Reef mania, a DIY unit or something along those lines.

Money is always and issue.

Also what is a good welding supply store to get CO2 gear from?

Eric to be honest with ya. I wouldnt worry about it right now. Your tank is going to be cycling for awhile, and going through various blooms. The once that is done your probibly oing to start ith some more hardy type corals which dont really have a beig demand for cal or alk. IMHO I would put the cal reactor on the back burner for about 4 to 6 months. Save yourself some money so you can spend it on critters when time comes.

Thanks for recommendation Mojo and you are most likley right about not needing to have reactor set up right away. It will be many many months before I am stocking any clams or stoneys. And considering the fact that most of the corals I am interested in are soft corals, I will not need one for a while and perhaps not ever.

Other suggestion still welcome as I am still interested in what people have to say about their particular unit.

I have both a Calc Reactor and a Skimmer from My Reef Creations and am really happy with both. Very quality products. Great customer support. And very affordable (well relatively speaking anyway)

Ok works for me Deltec PF 1000 fluidized calcium reactor.. puts out 88 DKH...god I love this thing.

Those Deltec are look great, but a little pricey. Plus don't think I need that much punch. If I tried to squeez your tank in my display room Mojo I think I would have to move the couch up stairs and mount small fold out seats to the far wall in order to fit people in there with it.

No kidding DOug blew my mind to. I tested it twice to make sure, cost me almost the whole darn test kit to do it . I have it set at 1 bubble per second on the co2 and that is the effluent. Its a real neat unit. it uses a media from Rowa and the whole column (40 inch tube by 8 inches) is fluidized.Its has a bunce og other neat features like built in solunoid, co2 recirc an so on. neat stuff

That is Deltec's main site in case you want to look at them. They also make a smaller unit, the 509, but not nearly as cool as the 500-1000 in the PF series.

I hope you get a DELTEC, I am getting a new PF 600S that he ordered from England along with his PF 1000 and one other I believe.

Mine will go in my new 180 that will be up in a few days. I cant wait to see this thing running to be honest with you. Mike sure is having fun with his new toy.

Has anyone else here ever run a DKH higher than 40 in their CR? Just curious.
Mike if you happened to around can you please list as long as you can remember the different reactor that you have owned over the years oooops... I hope I did not ask for to much.
