Can ANY pump be throttled back?
I have a little giant md-3 that is pushing a lil too much through my chiller.

Also I have a PCX-40 that my god you give it a bigger output it PUMPS- can it too be throttled back?? (I know NOT the input side ever on pumps)

Thanks!

Yes as long as you throttle the output and not the input.

Or...On some pumps like Sequence (not sure about your pump), you can swap impellers and tone them down some. Scooty just did it the other day to tone down the flow on his Sequence return pump. :)

I think Krish is really thinking "why would you want to slow it down" as he rev's his 500hp v8 powered pump on his nano.:D

LOL! Flow rocks!!:D

One thing you can do though to slow down the flow without causing any issues is use a longer length of hose/plumbing running into the chiller. That way, flow is not restricted in any way, but you will get less flow or just "Y" off of your feed pump for the chiller and recirculate some of the water back into the sump (or wherever) and control it with something like a ball valve. Just a thought:)

thats what its lile in my tank now.
I don't think I have a problem with flow now in the tank, but I think I have a little too much flow to the sump.
I have a closed loop with a sequence and the PCX 40 for the sump but man its harsh in there.
Its onlt taken 3 years to figure out all this flow stuff.

Don't worry it will change soon.

As far as I know you can throttle back any external pump on the output side. You won't have any problems with the PCX or the Little Giant, they are pressure pumps. Flow pumps can have a very large drop in preformance if you throttle them down however.
