So I’m trying to get a list of all the Biocube mods all you other Biocube owners have done. From mild to wild, from free to thousands, did you like it did you hate it, would you do it again, would you do it differently. All mods welcome lights, pumps, power heads, filters, skimmers, hoods, sumps, fuges, ect. If you would like to add a how to and/or PICS for your mod with your post that would be much appreciated :bounce:

For example

Mod: Bio balls for live rock
Like it/ hate it: like it
Cost: less then $10
Difficulty: easy
Would you do it again: yes
Would you do it differently/how: yes, if I was to do it again I would do a media rack this time.

Yeah I was asking the same thing for my jbj nano 28gal. I've tried looking on line. But nothing really worth doing

Mod: Remove Tab between Chamber 1 and Chamber 2
Like it/ hate it: Like IT
Cost: FREEEEEE
Difficulty: To Easy
Would you do it again: Every Time
Would you do it differently/how: nope
How to: Use a Razor and carefully slice the tab off, it creates a good amount more flow.

Mod: Scrape Black Paint of Back
Like it/ hate it: Like IT
Cost: FREEEEE
Difficulty: Easy
Would you do it again: Every Time
Would you do it differently/how: nope
How to: Use a razor blade and scratch the black paint of the outside of the back. To me this helps a great deal because i use Chamber 2 as a refugium, so it allows me to use a light from the back. As well i can gauge when its time to clean out the back and clean the return pump.

Mod: Upgrade return pump
Like it/ hate it: like it
Cost: cost of pump your upgrading to.
Difficulty: easy
Would you do it again: every time
Would you do it differently/how: no
How to: Unplug pump, unmount the return tubing, and elbow. replace with the new pump, and plug in.

Mod: Replace return pump tubing and elbow.
Like it/ hate it: like it
Cost: the cost of tubing.
Difficulty: super easy
Would you do it again: everytime
Would you do it differently/how: use black tubing
How to: remove the elbow and stock tubing for return. cut a long peice of tubing and trim down, to fit. i cut a 16" peice and trimmed it down just a tad, this has also added to the flow.

These are a few of the things i have done. If you have questions in specific, let me know, but this is a great start. My next mod is building an LED retrofit to go inside the stock hood.

Mod:Removed floor in chamber #1 & put heater in there
Like it/ hate it:Love it
Cost:Free
Difficulty:Easy
Would you do it again:In a Heartbeat
Would you do it differently/how:No
How to:Just pry out the false floor

Mod: Drill rear of the tank to plumb for a sump
Like it/ hate it:Love it
Cost:I try not to keep track of what this hobby costs:rolleyes:
Difficulty:Moderate
Would you do it again:Yes
Would you do it differently/how: I wish I would have drilled another hole & put a bulkhead for the return line (that will be done soon)
How to: http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/f204/bio-cube-home-make-over-62594/

Mod: Nanotuners LED Retro
Like it/ hate it: Like it
Cost: $300
Difficulty: Moderate
Would you do it again: Yes
Would you do it differently/how: No
How to: Gut the existing hood. Plug in kit and wiring

Can't keep much with stock lighting. Zoas, palys and chalices love the leds. Only negative is that a few chalices have completely changed colors.

Is nanotuners even still around?
