RF,

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Cameloter last week. He was looking to upgrade his tank. I think he came to the right place! We discussed some ideas and options, and this is what we came up with.

He decided to commision me to build him a 49.5x36x20 Peninsula tank with a 3 sided overflow box on one end. I took a few pic's to wet all your whistles!

First I like to start with drawing out the top and start to machine all the OFB parts.

Next, I glue up all the OFB parts, and POW, an OFB is born!

This is a close up of a small 3/4" bulkhead with an assembly of line lock. Ever notice that you can't get a line lock to fully seat in a fitting? I chuck up the bulkhead in the lathe and cut the threads deeper. Just one of the little details that often gets overlooked, but not at CFI!

All polished up and ready to instal into the tank, once it's built.

Next, is to start the top, this is the 2 acess portholes that allows entry to the inside of the OFB.

All in a day's work! Thanks, for looking, Jason

I am thrilled to see progress on the tank.Visiting Jason's shop and discussing design and implementation with him convinced me this new tank will be perfectly executed.

RF,
We worked on the 154 today, made some nice progress, take a look!

We hand sanded the bullnosed edge of the main porthole up through 800 grit. Here is what it looks like.

We machined the signature rabbit into the two portholes for the OFB, this cuts out noise and salt creep.

Next, we put the front, back, and ends togeather, gives you an idea of how cool this tank is going to be. Just think, I had to talk them into going 6 inches wider!

This is the Overflow Box (OFB) going in. It will not be long till she is all done!

Hope you all are enjoing watching this build go togeather! Hit "like" if you are, Thanks, Jason

RF,

Well, I figured I ought to get this tank done, so I put the top and bottom on her today. It really takes shape, and shows you what a coral growing machine this tank will be!

Not too shabby, Jason. I'm liking the proportions as they are actualized in construction. Just what I had in mind.

RF,

A little update is in order.

Cameloter ordered up a steel for his new 49.5x36x20 tank. Well, we do thoes as well. Here is a quick photo journal.

First we ordered some steel, and had it media blasted. This strips the material down to bare steel.

Next, we cut to size and drill the holes to weld in the steel tubing. The steel tubes prevent any moisture from entering the inside of the square tubing after it is coated.

Here is a shot of what it looks like all coated with Line-X.

We welded some tabs for a back board.

And last, this is what we do all this for, one happy customer! We are honored that you trusted us to build your tank and stand for your dream tank, and she is a beauty!

Tank thanks

Let me just say that working with Jason was a pleasure and I highly recommend the experience because of his concern that you get the tank you want, his technical expertise and wealth of knowledge. He is a great communicator and a genuinely nice guy. If I ever need another tank Jason will build it.
