Can sand stick to fish?

So last night i thought for sure my fish had ich. Today, there is not a trace of anything abnormal. Yesterday, one of my powerheads fell down and stirred up the sand. Is there anyway the white stuff I was seeing on my fish could have been sand particles. I know its a long shot but why is it all gone all the sudden. From the time I saw the white stuff to they time it was gone was less than 12 hours. They thing is, the white stuff was on his tail, by his eye, and near the gill area but not on the gills. Does ich come and go like that?

It could be sand and it could be ick. Some fish sleep in the sandbed so they will have sand on them for a while. The other possibility is the ick goes through this lifecycle where they attach to the fish, feed, fall off, lay eggs....etc. So if your fish comes back with alot more of the white spots its most likely ick.
