can you identify this growth?

a friend has this white stringy growth that has popped up in their aquarium. our lfs cant even identify it. does anyone know what this is or have any personal experience with it?

Not sure what it is but I do see some Aiptasia in the pic....

Aiptasia... it's like the poor mans' anemone.

definately a type of sponge. Great for your tank

Get rid of the Aiptasia before it takes over.....

SPONGE, along with some aptasia(as everyone else has stated). Sponges are a great sign.
The sponges would be great for a cryptic fuge.

Take a peice of rubble and put it right on the aptasia, it will move(being an anenome) then throw the rubble away.
