Catching a Bicolor Blenny

I had to catch my Bicolor Blenny as he was nipping at all of my SPS, LPS and my newly acquired Clam. I tried many different methods including netting (never going to happen with all the rock and coral for him to hide in), the clear water bottle method and I even borrowed a fish trap from my LFS. Every other fish would go in the trap to get some food except the Blenny...
Finally, after hours and hours of trying to catch him I remembered that when my power went out he liked to hide in my Koralia powerhead. So...I unplugged the powerhead and sure enough within 5 minutes he was in there! Bye Bye Blenny :badgrin: (no, I didn't turn the powerhead on and turn him into food, just put the net over the opening and was able to get him out of there)

My favorite method is feeding the fish from the net. I don't do it always but maybe once a week? The fish literally swim into the net when it goes into the water...haha. You have to 'train' them in a sense. One of my Engineer Gobies will not go into the net to save his life...oh well.

My favorite LFS is by far Aquatic Dreams here in Post Falls. Kevin is a wealth of knowledge and eager to share with newbies like me.

I started my first tank in January and have since gone through 3 tanks. Started with a 30 gallon hex, went to a 45 hex and now have a 72 gallon bowfront. I was talking about snorkeling in Mexico with coworkers one day and just decided that I wanted a reef tank so I went and bought a bunch of stuff and started up. Now my wife and daughter are enjoying picking out new corals and it is the centerpiece of our upstairs.

In the next year or so I plan on upgrading to a 200 gallon tank. Preferably a deep dimension, 36" deep, so I can continue to build a bigger reef.

ORA Verde
Idaho Grape
Purple Rimmed Monti
Green Goniopora
Fluorescent Green SPS (I forgot the name)
Duncans Whisker Coral
