Wouldn't you need a permit? I know you do here in FL if your catching things off the beach and stuff. This is what I hear anyhow, never tried it. I would be affraid of taking disease in to my tank!

Firstly you have to identify which species you want to catch. Most game fish dont require anything but a fishing license for your state. There is a license for collection with the 'intent" to distribute. So basically if you're trying to sell it for profit. Some of the divers might be able to chime in on that.

Out here in Hi there are pages and pages of laws regarding collection and the fine isn't pretty so be careful to look them up for your state. I highly suggest an extensive Qtime. Good LUck.

well in the Bahamas permits are not necessary. There aren't any shops which sell salt water fish, so we are forced to catch our own fish, corals, and live rock, Yes disease is sometimes a huge problem... About a month ago i had my whole tank wiped out due to an Ich Attack from some fish i caught.

What i was wondering is if anyone knew any methods of catching that work the best i.e. netting them, slurp guns, drop nets, plastic nets etc.

catching fish is a challenge
