Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

What is that, 50 posts per day? Where does anyone find the time?

its when someone new comes along and digs up old thread that those of us have followed in the past and make quick meaningless replies tryin to drive their post count up. :fish:

all in an effort to see all three things available in the classifieds section... 2 and 3/4 of which will likely still be there in a week.

It worse than sucks, not just for the email blitz, but because meaningful threads get bumped from the top. Kevin's LED voltage questions thread is an example.

It shows no respect to the site or its members, and its awful easy to want to return that attitude.

And if I'm going to post all that, I have to post that I'm guilty of plenty of meaningless posting... so there is plenty of imposed irony in my noting of this.. but for those aware of what I'm referring too, I have a real problem backing down from a challenge...

This is why I only subscribe to the classified sections. I don't want alerts for all the other posts. I log in to check for these other posts.

it can be frustrating, as a newbie, watching deals go by and not be able to even see them (I can say this from recent experience, my post count says it all) but honestly i do think its a good idea. there will always be those who try to circumvent the rules, and I guess that can be dealt with some way or another (can a mod or an admin reset someones post count if its obvious whats going on?)

the way I see it, this and other aquarium fora (or is it forums?) im on are not craigslist. they are communities. one of the perks of being a part of the community, other than information, advice, and the groups general experience, is the marketplace.

to take advantage of that, people should show they are willing to be contributing members of the community- or else it becomes little more than craigslist to some

Can, will, and do. Doesn't fix the barrage, just makes it folks don't gain from it really... which is another reason why its just silly.

Can't watch something you can't see, be worse if you could see them... There isn't all THAT much activity, and the reality is that most frags and the like that go up, go up again in a few months when its time to frag again.

Patience is key in this hobby, if you can't wait a bit to see the for sale forums, your chances at success are already pretty low.

for me its not so much the livestock as it is the equipment. i am a gearhead in any hobby i get involved in..

besides, till i get my tank in order, i dont have any place putting anything in there (well, i could temporarily store things in the 10 gal if need be..)
