They sell these cheap bulbs on ebay for like $25 and $7 shipping for a 20K and my question is how would the bulb compare to a XM or ushio and so on? I am leaning towards the XM 20K bulb now but just wanted to check to see if this deal was to good to be true or if any of you have a cheaper bulb and what your take is on it. Thanks!:D

Someone on here just posted about buying one last week. They were happy with it but had not had it but 2 days at the time.

Diffrent bulbs give diffrent par. But, all give light. Your tank will adjust to them. Only concern would be longevity of them.

So far so good with the one I installed last week. Color is great, service was good. Price was great.

I bought some bulbs from A&T lamps on Ebay. They were 15k DE generic bulbs. Great output, great color but 2 of the 3 bulbs died in about 3 months. Not worth the money in my opinion.

I heard that 20k is the way to go but will this make my tank too blue? Should I look into 14k? The halide will be the only bulb that i'm running. Thanks!

I think it depends a lot on the actual bulb. Some 14k bulbs are whiter, some are more blue. In general 14-20k tend to be pleasing to my eye, but everyone is different.
