I just purchased a Cherub angel on Friday. It's housed in my 65 gallon tank and is the only fish in the tank as of right now.I was doing some research on the pygmy angels but found little info about the sex of the fish. How can I tell if I have a male or Female Cherub angel. Thanks in advance :)

Which species of Centropyge do you have?

More commonly there is little or no sexual dimorphism in smaller angel species even as adults. Marginal size differences for the most part but even that's slim.

The only dimorphism in this species is the male can sometimes be larger. It would be hard to say even then as it is difficult to know at which stage (age) they are in their development.

Thanks everyone for your replies.I've been doing alot of reading on this fish and theres no real answer.I guess it will stay single in my tank. Thanks for the welcome balogh03

They are captive reared at Inland Aquatics and sold in pairs....perhaps you can contact them to see if they have established any differences as they pair up in their vessels.

I forgot about Inland Aquatics. My plan was to just have a pair of these in my 65 gallon and no other fish. Thanks Hoopsguru,I'll email inland.
