why is my cheto brittle and eazyly falling in to little peace's

its geting all over the place..

any idea's?

Sounds like its dieing to me.

Still green and hard? usually they would turn a light green or a brown if the colony was dieing. Not sure whats goin on then. Ive had a ball of cheato in my tank for about 6 months now and have not experienced anything like what your saying. I mean pieces of it would come off from time to time but never to the point that the whole colony was in danger of falling apart.

I have heard you are supposed to prune it . Maybe thats why. The other thing is thar recently happened to my cheato, I colected it and made another ball. Both seem to be doing fine
