Clean Up Crew

Hello.... I'm new to saltwater reef/fish tanks and have a question on cleanup crews... ie. hermits & snails. At what point do you add them? I have a 20 gal high that I am setting up. I plan to put in just a couple small fish, live rock, mushrooms, amd maybe some small colonies of polyps. Should I wait until after the tank cycles or until I get some build up that they can work on.

When you are getting to the end of your cycle, and the diatoms start to show.

Agreed with mmkeeper. Towards the end of the cycle I would say a week or so before adding any other livestock, start adding some critters. If you're going with a sand bed go with some Nassarius snails(among other critters) as they are great for stirring up the sandbed and keeping it aerated.
