Cleaner Shrimp has eggs

My shrimp is loaded with eggs but I only have onel! Is it common for the female to "lay" eggs when there is no mate?

Just wondering...

happens all the time. even with a male present it is unlikely that any would survive in a hobbiest tank to maturity. i think of it as free fish food.

I had this happen a couple of times in my old 90. Some of the shrimp did hatch and took shelter under some clam shells i placed in the tank. Unfortunatelly i never saw any make it. i think my green mandarin got them all. Still the female layed eggs a few more times until my tank over heated and i lost her.
