Just an idea of was thinking of implementing when I hook my closed loop system.
Use a T on the input and output of closed loop pump with a gate valve or ball valve in between connecting across the intake and output. The gate valve would allow part of the output to be returned back to the pump controlling the amout of flow that goes back to the tank. This would control the amount of flow without adding back pressure to the pump. This should help with not adding excess wear on the pump and less heat generated.
Any comments appriciated

How could you ever want to waste all that good flow by simply returning it to the pump, man no way not on a CL! :)
Yea that in theory should work but I think it would hold some back pressure because of the flow rate coming out of the pump.
