Does the bulkhead placment affect back pressure on a closed loop? return on bottom plumbed to top or return on top plumbed to the bottom.

It shouldn't. If a loop is truly closed, then there should be no head or pressure differences based on the entrance/exit of the tubing. The only determinants should be the size of the pipe, length of pipe/pipe friction and number of inlets and outlets.

That is one of the great things about a closed loop....it allows the you to get the absolute most out of your pipe without having to give up some percentage of flow just getting the water back out of the sump.

Hope that answers your questions.

Thanks wasn't sure if the weight of the water would affect it or if beeing in a closed loop balances out both input and outputs
