Hi,

I was wondering if it people sold there items if there was a way to close the thread or just get rid of it all together? A lot of times somebody will sell a piece of equipment to the first person that responds to their ad and wait for a long time to say that the item is sold. Although this does not happen all the time it does still happen. Also for those that do mark their stuff sold is there a way that we can just delete the thread? I find myself looking through a lot of the used equipment for sale section and reading through a lot of ads that are already sold. A lot of times ads go un noticed because they are piled on with ads that are no longer in use.

I know i may seem like a cry baby but as many of you know i am a bargain hunter and i have helped a lot of people out either by bringing old ads to the surface again for proplr to buy or just finding a piece of equipment for a member that is in need. I just think if we could cut out a lot of the old threads it would help people sell their stuff a lot quicker. JMO

Thanks a lot,

Nick

I like leaving them open as this way we can go back and look at pricing for sold items and we can see how much something is worth.

I think marking the item just SOLD is enough. I know I sometimes forget to mark my items SOLD though so I'll work on that.

Well thats not why i started this thread (to pick on you). It was really just to allow people that are in need to find something to not have to go through 8 threads and fine that only one or two are still available. I understand where your coming from though.

I suspect that you might be a long lost brother:lol:

The ability to research asks and sold prices is an excellent feature for this site. Seeing what didn't sell and possibly why is also valuable. Secondary market pricing is fluid and valuable to watch when planning, shopping, or selling.

I know but I realized I don't always mark mine as SOLD either. It would be nice if things would archive or something though.

Well if we could just move those items to another area after they have been sold or something so that you guys can trace previous sales and i can browse for things quicker. It was just an idea thats all.

I do sell my unwanted stuff here alot and I like being able to see what similar items were sold for in the past.
But I do edit my items with a red sold sign in the post. I've tried to edit the title as well , but have been unsuccessfull.

Well i think the moderators can change them for you.

What if i started a sticky in the For Sale area saying to mark your items sold asap or something like that.

That would be a good idea, but say to mark them as SOLD

Or something like that that sticks out.:)

I think i am going to have a talk with a moderator and see if we can't get that going. I think that would really help out a lot!

I'll let MtnDewMan respond to this, but share some of my thoughts :D. The moderators simply don't know if something is sold or not, so deleting a thread or moving it from view probably wouldn't work out so well. What if something hadn't sold, and we deleted the thread? Even if the thread was really old, a person could come back to give the thread a bump only to find it missing. Secondly, there are a lot of old threads, and the task would be time consuming to say the least. Sometimes people post their items for sale on numerous boards, and don't always remember where they posted. It would be nice if things were marked sold, but it doesn't always happen. You could always PM the person to see if an item is still available, or bump the thread. It could have been a sale pending that fell through, so an item might still be available.

I definately appreciate the thoughts on helping RF be more efficient. Input is always welcomed! Hopefully, MtnDewMan will get a chance to respond sometime soon. :)

I don't want to remove anything that isn't marked sold. Just stuff that is but i don't think that is a good idea because of what everyone else has mentioned about price checks and what not.

I think maybe a reminder of somesort for people to police there own fs items is all that could be done.

Most probably if the owner of the thread (thread creator & seller) would really want their Item removed it would be up to them to make that decision & PM a mod but like Nikki said lets see what the boss (MtnDewMan) says first.
