My lion fish seems to have some cloudy eye or a white film over it eye I have been trying to treat it with Melafix but seeing very little improvment. All my levels are normal along with temp the fish eats well and I do not see any thing wrong with it any suggestions.

lyfsux - I'm going to move this to Terry's forum. How long has the fish been in the tank, and how long has the eye been this way? Is it in QT? What are the tank mates? Can you post your water parameter numbers? Is the fish behaving normally (also is it eating and what)? Hopefully, we can help you out!

The fish has been in the tank for 4 weeks noticed the eyes about a week ago. Eats ghost shrimp and guppies still eats the same very active when feeding then sits in the corner straight up and down like usual. Tank mates include a ribbontail blue spotted sting ray they where tank mates in the store I bought them from for about 2 months. Also a mollie and a scat. Not in QT nitrate 10 nitrite .2 ph 8.3 SP 1.023 Temp 78.3 Have been keeping an eye on the levels because of the waste producers I have until my 180 is done I am on the last day of the meds I put in and then I will do a water change. 75 pounds of live rock

I would be a little concerned about the nitrate, mostly since it shows that the tank is cycling. A cloudy eye is often in indicator of an injury. This is frequently caused by netting. Melafix may help, but I doubt it. If it is just one eye then I would make a LARGE water change with well aged and aerated saltwater. If the eye does not clear up after that then my first choice would be Maracyn-Two at double the suggested dose (or the dose for day one) for 7 days. Treat only in quarantine. You can make a water change each day before adding a dose and reducing the salinity will probably improve the results. Try to avoid using a net with any fish. You might want to read this:

Thanks for the advice but yesterday I lost the lion had it in qt as a last resort I used copper but I think it was to late. My nitrates were normal just wondering if my ray had something to do with it but I guess I will never no. Unfortunatly it is a live and learn thing sad to see the loss when my 180 is ready hopfully this will make things for a better enviroment altogether Thanks for everything this site is the greatest

Lionfish are sensitive to copper and copper probably won't help cloudy eye anyway. It is a good idea to keep a cycled Qtank running at all times and a supply of meds handy.
Sorry your fish didn't make it.
