So after getting home from the frag swap I noticed my Female Clown Fish swimming as if she lost something. After further looking around the tank I found the male had jumped out and ended up being a dried piece of fish.

Makes me sad, I bought these two off a guy a few months back and enjoyed watching them. He never said they mated and I have not yet seen anything happen. She is or seems grown since she is almost 4".

My question is can I introduce a young one and let it try and become her mate?

All thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

Aww, I am so sorry. What a bummer.
My thoughts on getting a new one is that you should be able to get a smaller clown for her. Some clowns will not have a problem with a new clown to their territory. Depending on what type the female is, she may not accept him and may beat up on him. If it is an ocellaris, you should have no problems introducing a smaller one.

Do they normally jump out? I never seen any type of behavior since I had them.

Here is a picture of what she lo Clown.fish.jpgoks like. I forget the type.

Not sure if they normally jump, but it can happen. About 3 years ago, my wife called me in a panic after she came home and found our female clown stuck to floor. She wasn't completely dried out so I had my wife pick her up, put her in a net and swish her back and forth in the tank. This fish 'CPR' worked and the fish came back with no issues. Weirdest thing ever.

Nice recovery.
Mine was out for too long - he was dried fish snack.

well I will try to get a small one and see if they except each other.

I put a Sailfin Tang in last year and about an hour later I heard my wife and daughter yelling at me so I ran down and found my male flopping around on the ground. I picked him up through him back in and he is still just fine....
