Well I went ahead and got a clown trigger for my 300 gallon sump. He is in a 29 gallon QT for the time being. About 1" in length and incredible vibrant colors. Can't wait for this guy to grow into a 18" monster. Shy as can be right now and hides constantly. Currently I am spending some time sitting in front of the tank so that he can get used to me. Pics to come shortly.

Great fish with an incredible personality.
As you stated "monster" is a good description.
But they are fun!

Will a clown trigger and puffer be ok together in the same tank if the puffer was put in first and is also larger? So that way the clown trigger can grow up being used to the puffer? Or are these clowns so unpredictable that its basically a crap shoot?

IME, clown triggers are a crap shoot. I had a friend back in NC where a clown trigger bit thru the extension cord of his heater which electrocuted everything in the tank including the trigger.

I second that they are a crap shoot. I have a friend that had a clown trigger in his full blown reef tank for 2yrs with no problems although he was kept well fed too also.

A Clown Trigger will always be a crap shoot. Can be fine for years and just snap one day. Still a cool fish and a "fairly" safe risk in your 300 gallon. Keep him feed well....Fat and happy and the odds will be in your favor I believe.

Good Luck
