I noticed my percula clowns laid some eggs on my live rock, I was wondering if i need to take them out of the tank to hatch? Im wondering if something will eat them, or go into the overflow? inhabitants of my tank are 2 hermits, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 peppermint shrimp, yellow tang, and 3 cromises.

Congrats! Were you going to try and raise them? If not, I would leave them there and let them be a tasty treat come hatching time.

Nikki, I think I want to try and raise them. My member icon is a pic of the pair that laid the eggs, I think that they are really nice. Sorry I haven't became a Premium member since RF updated Their site so I don't think i can post any pics. So can anyone tell me whats involved in raising true percs? :) thanks

u can show pics
but your pics are too big
i did the same too
try cutting out what u want and lose the rest of the pic

and your fry
will be larva for the first 30 day
and will be eaten if not removed
they must be fed rotofers
its very hard

but if u want them to live try to give them to some one that dose it or is trying it, there a few people around .

good luck

You should be able to upload pics to either the post or your photo gallery. If you click on the "add reply" button at the bottom, you will be taken to another page. From here, you simply type up the text to go with your post, scroll down a little bit to where it says "Additional Options", find "Attach files", and click on "Manage Attachments". That is where you can upload from. The other area to go if you want them in the photo gallery....At the top of the page it says member photo gallery, click on that and find where it says "my gallery". You can then click on "Upload photos". You can also get to your gallery by clicking on the "my gallery" link under your name in any post you've made. Hope this makes sense.

If you are really interested in raising clownfish, I will suggest that you invest in the book by Joyce Wilkerson called "Clownfishes". In the meantime, here are a few links to look through. The first 2 are threads from Reef Frontiers.

Baby Clown Survival
Raising Clownfish
Breeding the Common Clownfish
Breeding Clownfish-page 2. Scroll down to the Spawning section...that is where information regarding rearing the young is discussed.
The Breeders Net - for info on culturing rotifers.

talk to aaron (uwscotch) about it. He is rasing clowns and has like 20 babies right now. They are fed rotifers, which he also raises.
