Keep it away from your tank and dont put it in a stand with a sump. The chrome plating on the genx is part of the reason they are reliable. The lack of plating is what made the MW so bad.

The reactor is by the sump under the stairs in my basement. My tank is on one side of the wall and the sump is on the other.
Does the chrome plating make it more rust resistant?

Just the salty air will corrode the regulator. After it corrodes it will start floating up and down.
