sorry if i can't post a picture but my camera its not that good at close ups :( , they look like yellow polyps but smaller and with a little bit of brownish color.
I've seen them on some of my rocks, are they bad and how could i get rid of them?

Sounds like either a colonial or stick hydroid... check here

Hydroids (Class Hydrozoa)

I also saw a recent thread on RC (the Dr's forum) where it was suggested to be the juvenille stage of a jelly I think it was?

Cheers
Steve

YES !! the ones on the pictures Colonial athecate hydroids. (1,2 and 4rd picture)
i've noticed they are spreading on my rocks, i wonder how bad are they?
and how can i get rid of them?

Gabby, I had some of these in my tank and was also wary of them. I just took some underwater epoxy and put it over them and in a few weeks they were killed and I peeled the epoxy off. That was my "homemade" method and the only way I know how to get rid of the. Hope this helps!

Try putting bleach in the water Gabby...That should kill it (LOL) Just kidding. I have never seen them before, but they do look freaky.

I have lots of them.... I just consider them as one of those filter feeders... some are greenish and some are bluish.... so I like them thats why i dont remove them. Lets just say it adds diversity in my tank together with aptasia, valonia bubbles and many others...

They have a very powerful sting and can harm slow moving or bottom dwelling fish. They are the bane of seahorse keepers as the sting the the horses when they hitch. They are difficult to get rid of once infested. Early removal can stop the spread. They come in on brine shrimp eggs for some strange reason. They can be prevented by decapsulating the eggs with bleach before hatching.

i used to think they were kewl looking because they kind of look like a yellow polyp, but then i started to think about how much hithickers like my tank :D , that's why i decided to ask.
Krish, sure i'll add some bleach and do you want me to add a little bit of mr. clean too  :D.
Well, i'm gonna try asking the neighbour for her camera and see if i can take some kewl pictures.
They are getting close to my zoos so i hope they don't sting them and kill them or something like that :(

Dan, can you give me a link where I can research more about this? where you based your findings? Thanks

You can get decapsulated brine shrimp eggs through www.brineshrimpdirect.com

Empirical evidence entirely. Every time I use brine shrimp eggs without decapsulating the eggs, hydroids show-up shortly thereafter. I know serveral people that raise seahorses that corroborate this "urban myth" It doesn't seem possible but is back-up by plenty of personal testimonies. The yield is better and the hassle of dealing with the shells is removed so it is recommended regardless. The shells can get stuck in the craw of horses and they can choke to death.

that's kind of scary :(.
in my case, i don't use brine shrimp, i really have no clue how they got here :( .
do you know if there's any fish, invert that would eat them ?

Hey Gaby!!

Did you ever get rid of your hydroids? I found a patch of them yesterday and am looking for some tips on removal. It is on a bottom rock so it will not be easy to remove it.

Thanks

Brian

Have Krish do it. He likes Hydrozoa (fire corals). :)

Actually, while wearing gloves, spread a little Kalk paste on them. Do a little at a time unless you have a pH monitor.

Thanks Curt! I will give it a try. I am taking down the tank shortly to ditch the sand. If I find anymore after I kalk them I may give them the old mojo boil.

i got some of them off my rocks... don't try picking them with Belinda's twicers :p it took me forever to pick some of them, i'd do what Curt says hehe
