"Rescued" some of these from work today... I set them up their own little 2.5gal yesterday before bringing them home, and will likely be taking them over to Barrier Reef or some place as I can't really keep em all.. But this guy in particular caught my attention with his black and red body. Can't say i've ever seen such a colorful snail. Will prolly keep this guy. Hopefully i'll be able to find something it'll eat, as most of the captive info i've been able to find on Coneshells say they eat either worms or other snails. Ah well, a turbo snail here or there isn't that expensive.

I've been able to ID the bigger ones as Conus eberneus, and this red mouthed guy as Conus ebraeus

Oh, in that case, I would never put one in my tank because itis a cone snail.
Are they venomous too? Or only the big ones?

Well i've been doing research on that. All cone snails use the venomous harpoon to catch their prey, but according to a few articles only 5-6 of the 600 species have proven harmful/fatal to humans. You just need to be smart and not handle em with your bare hands. I use my 18" snake feeding hemostats to pick em up.

Apparently the two species these guys are eat worms like the euncid(sp?) worms. Wonder if they eat bristleworms...

kewl looking buggers. How is your 45gal show reef/fish going? Did I miss something. That would not be unusual. hahahahahaha "slapping thigh"
