I went to the photo lab at my school today and I saw this thing. It's used to wash film, but i couldn't stop thinking about how it could be applied to a reef tank somehow. Anybody got any cool ideas? Basically, it fills up and drains every 30 seconds or so

On a larger scale, it might be implemented as a surge device, creating a "flush" wave every 30 seconds. Just don't know how it would be plumbed in above a tank.
That would be cool. I was thinking that for a freshwater tank it could be filled with bio balls. That's pretty much the idea of a bio-wheel right? You could have a ton of surface area that would constantly be immersed and brought out of the water if it was full of them.

ha funny I am working on something similar but doubled up as a wave device funny did not know there was such a thing in production.
