Copepods

I am going to place an order To Ocean Pods for a container of copepods, in a couple of days.
Would anybody near Olympia WA. want to go in with me to share on shipping?
The container you get will be $25. If you want a count on how many you get you will have to get a hold of Ocean Pods for details.

By that I mean, wait a few weeks after you get the pods (after a few weeks they will start multiplying) and give some for me and my fuge I thought you already had some in the fuge?

Not all fish eat pods. Pods are great for keeping the tank clean. I have amphipods and mysis shrimp in my main tank and the fuge. I also have a Spotted Mandarin and a Scooter Blenny that feed on these little guys in my 55g and they haven't wiped them out yet. If you have so many fish that they can wipe out the pod population you have too many fish IMO.

are these living copepods? i was unaware that you could get them alive. have you done it before? how many accually get to you alive? this could be the answer to my questions about owning a mandrin goby!!

Yes it is live copepods. If you have live rock in you tank now you may have a population already. Copepods are almost madatory to keep mandarin fish.
what they sell is a basicly a boaster kit to get the pod population going good.
I am just about to place the order.

i don't want any,we don't have our tank up yet. i think that a mandarin will eventually eat all of the copepods in an aquarium, they will just eat them faster then they can reproduce. that's why you have to keep them in the fuge. it would be a good idea to add them every so often though.

Finn, where are you getting your pod booster kit?

Aly625, I had one mandarin in a 29g tank and it didn't wipe them out in my last tank. They reproduce really quickly. Although I think two Mandarins in a 29g would wipe them out. Finn is right about the hidden ones not getting eaten. Also if you can get mysis shrimp to add to the mix that creates a nice varied diet.
