ok so I have a copperband to try and get my aiptasia. Now my problem, I have a 180 in the house and a 300 in the garage, both connected together, the 300 only has 2 tangs and a rabbitfish and tons of rock. The 180 has a mated pair of 6-line wrasse and a mated pair of mandarins. I also have an Emperor Angel, Hippo tang, purple tang, white faced tang, and 6 chromis. The copperband can in great shape so I wonder if I could have it in the 180 or if I should just add it to the 300 as I originally purchased it for. Also the 180 has SPS and clams, cleaner shrimp

the 300g would be more room for it:D , and one less fish for the 180g that is well stocked.

I think the 300 is going to get him both tanks have aiptasia but the ones in the 300 are bigger

Not really every now and then they show some aggression. The Emperor is in charge and gets some tail spikes every now and then becuase he tries to but someone in there place

i am going to try out having 2 hippo's in a 125g...

Ouch... that will be supreme aggression. You need atleast a 300 gallon tank, and even that may not be enough. They get very agressive towards conspecifics with age. Do you plan to upgrade even further as the hippo reaches it's full size? 12"...

As for the butterfly, I say the 300 :)

The copperband can easily go into the 180. I have more fish than that in my 100. As for the hippo, although they do get to almost 12" in the sea I have had a few of them that lived over ten years and they never got over about 6"
Of course in a very large tank they will grow larger.
You should also feed that copperband worms along with the aiptasia which will not sustain it for long.

Fish are known to live shorter in smaller tanks, this is probably why they had their growth stunted, and did not live very long.

I have had my hippo for 11 years and he is about 8-9" I would do 2 in my 180 if I removed some other fish

As for the copperband, I would like on in my 180 but fear he would eat my clams

if it doesn't work out, i will seperate them.....i am going to watch them closely when i combine them into that tank.......i will probably only upgrade 1 more time to a 240g..i don't think i want to deal with one bigger than that

Marinelife 8 or nine inches sounds about right in a 180 gallon tank, mine got about 5 or 6" in a 100. In a 300 or larger tank they get about 10".
As for copperbands I do not have any problems with them except I can't keep them over about 5 years. The one I have now I have for maybe a year and although very healthy he has not grown much at all which if fine, just unusual. He is about 3" and I would like him to stay that way. I give him live black worms every day which have been fed Selcon. He also gets bananas, mysis, plankton, clam, small fish and sponge I collect locally in NY. He gets these foods because thats what I feed the moorish Idol and he gets the spoils. I have had maybe a dozen or two copperbands since 1972 but this is the first time I fed these specific foods so I will see if I can keep him at least ten years as most of the other fish live to. I have been trying this sponge for over a year and so far it seems to provide something beneficial at least to the Idol. Not many fish eat it but the moorish Idol will almost jump out of the water fot it. It took the copperband almost a year to start eating it but now he expects it and takes it out of the moorish Idol's mouth. Time will tell how beneficial it is.

Josh, where is Issaquah?

I will let you know in a few years on one in a 300, I have one in the 300 stock tank.

Good info on the Copperband, I may have to try one in my 180
