Hi,

I just bought a Coral Beauty last thursday, and transported home a couple hours. in a BB Qt tank. water was stable last check at LFS last week.

I noticed a white spot on his side up and behind his left eye, watched him for a couple days no change. but I was curious so I caught him. and when I touched it it flaked off, and on the fish a tiny slight discoloration remained. now I see a 2nd spot in a little different place. I talked to LFS and they say Ick, dang it if I forgot to bring my water sample with me :(

now I am seeing a bit of cloudyness in opposite eye?

among other things I have yet to physically see him eat?
tried oceans nutritian formula 2 flake and pellets, spirulina flake, frozen mysis, and spirulina mysis.

RO water, stable temp at 78-79 10% water changes every other day.

Help? Thanks folks

if he's in a qt tank, a good old fresh water dip will help with parasites...4 minutes in fresh ro/di water (make sure to add a pinch of buffer so the pH is close to 8.3 and the temp is matched) If the pH and temp are matched, he should just lay still at the bottom of the bucket for basically the full 4 minutes

treehugger thanks, I looked into that, found the thread on FW dips. I stuck to your suggested 4 minutes, but sure as hell I saw what was described in that thread....flukes several sunk to bottom of bowl, and who knows what else

it can be pretty amazing what comes off of these fish when they come in. It drives me nuts that more stores don't take the time to properly treat and quarantine prior to sale...not just throw them into a bunch of copper and hope for the best...

I used to do this often when I had a fish only tank. Can't recall if I fw dip before it goes in the tank. Do you recommend to do fw dip when bringing home a new fish?

So far fish is OK, seems a little more active. just did a water change and did drop salinity slightly. Ill be happy when I see him eat

I am still not seeing him eat???? beginning to really bother me. now staying in a corner as out of sight as possible.

caught a post someones sailfin is not eating.... tried chopped garlic as suggested there, nothing
would the flukes kill the appetite?

is the fish in an empty tank because that would make just about any fish "nervous" Try throwing in a couple of cut pieces of PVC for him to hide in.

Ill try anything, but I am worried it is too late, he is now swimming at the top, not swimming funny or anything, but at the top none the less

would it be bad form to mention the LFS I bought the fish from? thay are not a sponsor, and so far havent returned my Emails inquiring about this.

Try sweet music and romance...kidding. Seriously though, taking down the lighting a touch and maybe covering the sides of the tank to avoid the fish seeing so much movement in the room would help it stay chill.

freakin Ill try it heck I am medical pro, I am almost inclined to start an IV and give it IV nutrition (not really)

I just want him to eat

Any way to increase the oxygenation of the tank? Maybe that'd help? Sorry he's doing so crummy.
