I just noticed there is some sort of creature that has taken residence in the middle of my favia. Taking a photo will be useless because it is so small and my cell won't focus that far away. It reminds me of a bore worm that has buried itself w/ only a feeding appendage sticking out. The favia appears to be happy with the exception of this zit that has grown in the middle of it. Should I reef dip again? Try to take the tweezers to it? Let it grow and then take action?

Does the part that sticks out look feathery? If so its most likely a barnacle. Wont harm the coral any

Not feathery.. more like a crab eyeball. When I lower my feeder into the water it pops back into the favia. Worm? What interested that this 'guest' has made the favia coral buldge at that point, just like a zit.

you can take the coral out and set it in a small container of water. Wait and see if it pops out and get a pic of it that way. I'm curious what it is too.

Here is the cootie... Thanks for idea on photographing Ipieces. I went ahead and re-dipped. It looks to be still there. Grrrr

looks like a typical vermitid snail hole. They are harmless and usually cast out a mucus net to trap particles in the water to eat. If you want to get rid of him and have the coral grow over it apply superglue over the hole (out of the water of course)
