I'm going to start a frag tank in a few months but would like to be prepared for everything. My current set up is a 65g RR,2-250 watt aquamedic pendents 10k, Octopus 110 recirc, TLF phosband reactor,2 Seio 1100 on a Seio controller, 2 36 inch vho actinic on Ice cap 430, 29 gallon sump, mag 7 return. I want to sell my 65 and get a 30 breeder. I've never kept anything besides Sps in my tanks and don't no what kind of water quality Lps need. So here's a few questions.

Is it possible to keep Sps and Lps in the same tank?
Do I have enough/to much lighting to keep them both happy?
Does a 30 breeder seem big enough for a beginner to propagating?
Will I feel up the 30 G fast?
I have about 25 frags of Sps and 4 colonies of caps(sps). Will I have enough room for Lps?
Should I have a refugium?
Should I have a sand bed in the sump?
Should I have rock in the sump?
Should I run that much flow in a Lps tank?
Should I seperate the tank with a divider?

I think this is it for now.

Thanks Adam

I just set-up a 40 breeder to hold my corals while I redo my 125g. Answers to your questions from my perspective below.

Do I have enough/to much lighting to keep them both happy? 1 250 would be plenty
Does a 30 breeder seem big enough for a beginner to propagating? I like my 40 breeder
Will I feel up the 30 G fast? Yes
I have about 25 frags of Sps and 4 colonies of caps(sps). Will I have enough room for Lps? doubt it, once you have the frag rack in (if you go that route) it takes up space fast.
Should I have a refugium? I used my fuge from my main tank so I wouldn't have to worry about a cycle.
Should I have a sand bed in the sump? I do
Should I have rock in the sump? I do
Should I run that much flow in a Lps tank? I dont keep lps so i couldn't tell ya, however I keep mainly sps and some softies
Should I seperate the tank with a divider? If you are that concerned set-up 2 30 breeders off of a common sump.

I think this is it for now.

Thanks Adam

why are u getting rid of the 65gl if u gonna just have a prop tank use the 65 for more room i keep a mixed lps sps reef heavily lps dominated
its not to much flow if u have the power heads postioned in the right place

u will want to run this tank the same as anyothere reef tank u may also want to add a cacl reactor and ozone and then carbon if u run ozone this will help with the coral when u frag it eliminating alot of mucus from fraggin
imo the best prop tank is a 6' x 2' x 1' lots of room for corals and easy to accsess
