Hi,
I got a Coralife superskimmer which am happy with in terms of production but it leaks like crazy all of a sudden from the red knob where you adjust bubble count. Any of you engineers use this and understand it enough to recommend a fix (other than putting it in the sump)? I emailed ESU/Coralife, don't want to mail it to them if I can avoid it. Getting my warrantee coverage involves finding a receipt. If you have seen my desk you will understand why I don't want to pursue that course.

I got a CPR bakpak2 free yesterday, it's not very productive according to the prior owner and I have never found them all that impressive so am thinking of playing with modifications if there are any. Recommendations? I think using the powerhead strictly to move the water through it and a wooden airstone to make the bubbles would be quieter and more effective but don't know if that is a good idea, involves a drill too... but heck, it was free :)

Suggestions?
Thanks,
Kate

superskimmer recap

Well, got the superskimmer part that leaked to the company as it was under warrantee, and they replaced the entire thing with a brand new one, so I am happy! Now I have two of everything except the part that leaked. Maybe will use the needlewheel on the CPR and see if that changes anything.

Good to hear Kate, nice to know of the companys that will back up there product with good customer service.

I just started posting here; however, I just so happened to have started doing recirculation mods on skimmers of all shapes and sizes. And yes, I did one on a backpack knock off. The layout of the skimmer is essentially the same as the real backpack, it's just that the real thing is built much better. I'll take some pics of the one I modded and post them. It went from useless to productive. Others I have done this on have had similar results. Oddly the sea clone has had the MOST DRAMATIC change. The posts on this can be seen here:
