Terry,

I'm working on making the selections for fish in my 75 gallon tank and wanted to ask a couple of questions. My eventual goal is to try my hand at breeding fish, simply for the challenge it presents, not to make a profit. However, I will not have the time to attempt raising the eggs until 3-5 years from now so I want to get long lived fish.

My first attempt will be with 2 clownfish I already obtained. I would like to add 2 more groups of fish that might breed to the tank. I have several options I'm considering and wanted your input on them:

Gramma loreto
Opistognathus aurifrons
Cryptocentrus cinctus
Gobiosoma oceanops(already found one source these are rather short lived, so probably not).

My questions are:

1. Do you think these species can last 5-7 years in captivity and still be of breeding age? Of course this is assuming I don't do anything stupid. My husbandry skills are pretty good.

2. Do you know of a captive bred source for Opistognathus aurifrons? I can't find one.

3. Do you think adding 3 grammas to the 75 at the same time will prevent fighting among them?

Thanks,

Brian
