i'd like to keep the shutter open longer to increase the DOF

using a tripod would make this possible... in theory

Off to a good start. Here are two things that I've noticed. First off, you are shooting in Adobe RGB which can't be displayed on the web. You may notice a difference from how the colors look in PS on your comp, but they will be much less vibrant via web. Change your camera to shoot in sRGB. Also, shutter speed doesn't have anything to do with DOF, your aperture does. The zoa was shot at F/4 which can be pretty shallow. I try and shoot between F/8 and F/16 depending on the desired DOF. Since you were already at ISO 1600, I would really try and get a tripod so you can lower that and slow the shutter speed down. I also hold the lens directly to the glass without a tripod for up to one second if I have to, sometimes I'm just too lazy to get the tripod out.

I have a new tripod you can have :) still in box that came with camera XTI (karma, karma). I know you don't get to puyallup much but it has your name on it if you like.
PS can someone pick this up for him or I can meet half way. 253 3326198

would be much appreciated although i do find that it would be quite the task to get it from you.

i may just break down and get one from amazon or something like that.

thanks for the comments guys

Nice shots Adam!

Tracey - If you wander up here on Sat, you wouldnt be to far! :D

Or if you and Adam wants to use my place as a half way point, that would be fine. There will be plenty of food! Plus I would love to hear what another nano reefer thinks of mine.
