ive been told i need a cover glass for an eel tank but dont know how to fashion a lid make it in to sections or could i just use some egg crate or electrical crate this would be weighd down with with the light how hard would it be to make it acrilyc or would that not be heavy enough if the eel jumps or with an ocy would have to be sealed or the crate would have to be small holes as the ocys for sale are not very big yet

I know you will definately need a cover. My friend had a chainlink moray and use to find him out the tank all the time. I guess IMO, eggcrate would probably be best because atleast the tank won't heat up too much or something that will allow the tank to breathe.

I don't know much about keeping eels, but I do like the eggcrate idea, as it would allow for good gas exchange. What size eels? You could probably figure out a way to secure the eggcrate, and leave yourself a trap door for feedings?

dont know need to know what size it woulc be for a 4 foot tank how much room it needs

how big of an eel i can have in the tank i might try some chroms or a wrasse, chromis are cheap and live food is a good treat every now and again. im taken a page out of your book krish gonna get all my own live rock and have an awsome scape for my eel and be honest with me is it better to have a sand bottom was gonna get some nice beach sand was even thining about catching a moray eel? lol maybe not the eel but yeh ;)

LOL...

My friend catches eels a lot. He is an eel freak! I don't mess with them though. I know he's had one in his 65 tall an two small ones in his 30 long. They don't swim much so a 4ft tank, like you have, may be a good size for an eel IMO.
