I cannot produce thick skimmate with this skimmer. I get about a cup every 3 days full of green smelly watery skim. Is this a weak skimmer, if so what would you recommend to skim my 56 gallon.

i have the same skimmer and i get the same results. I see the good green gunk build up when i clean the cup where the bubbles come out...thats the only good stuff i get..

Yea I get the same stuff too. Maybe somebody out there will know how to tweek it or something.

how long have you had it running on your tank??? I have had mine since july its on a 55 gal tank take a look if you want...

I had mine running for about 3 months, but all the contents in it came from a year old tank. my tank is a 56 gallon saltytank.

I have the same skimmer and I found that doing the air pump and wood airstone works well. I suggest getting stiff air hose and the suggested air pump...i think it was a Hagen maxima-r? I saw it online for about 20 bucks.

Also I read that skimate the color of dark green tea is good and I too get some really good gunk in the middle where the bubbles come up.
