where should i place my crocea? i put it in the sandbed and i watched it blast sand and water and land on its side...should i put it back up or let it work it out or put it on rocks?

also will they filter feed with my mysis/brine medley or do i need to get something else to feed him ?

Take a small piece of rubble rock and bury it in the sand under the clam. It should attach within a few days to a week.

Clams don't need any feeding if you have strong lighting "T5 or Mh" and ammonia and nitrate "fish pee and poo"

Feeding clams can clog thier gills and kill them.

As skinz said, clams will get all the food they need from your tank, provided you have fish in your tank and adequate lighting. Clams are a great filter feeder and nitrate reducer. If you do chose to feed a clam, you need to feed phytoplankton, not zooplankton. Isochrysis is a good phyto species for them. Phytofeast is a quality food.

Good information because I purchased 2 clams from the same place. For $17 I couldn't turn it down.

They react to light as recommended by most. I placed them in the sand when I first got them, but they have tipped on their sides since then.

I do feed them with Phyto-pure at the same time I feed my Sun Corals.

I will try using some rubble rock tonight.

Thanks

Yes, as mentioned, place a flatish piece of rock beneath the sand, beneath the clam. Once it attaches, move it higher in your rock work.

Smoothy, another thing I might suggest...not sure, but I think Sun Corals are carnivorous so need zooplankton, while the clams need the phytoplankton.

True, I have seen Sun Corals feeding on live brine on YouTube.

I have been feeding that tank with frozen Brine and could never get them to keep one, but I had the Phyto-pure for the clam which is generally in the same area.

My Sun Corals are still a work in progress....8 heads and 2 babies are just starting to come out without me bribing them.

To keep on subject I will use some flat rubble rock for the clam.

Thanks again.
