So I am currently running a phosban reactor in my sump with it's own pump. I also have a Mag 5 running to my fuge throttled at about 75%. Could I t off the fuge supply and flow through a phosban reactor and another with carbon? If I can make it work with one pump I am happy.

I guess what I am wondering is - is it bad to flow out of a phosphate reactor into a carbon reactor directly? Should I reverse my idea.. carbon then phosphate reducer?

Carbon first, then phosphate absorber. Many of the phosphate absorbers also absorb organics, so you will exhaust your phosphate absorber more quickly if you put it first.

Of course, optimizing flow through each of the media with a single-source system is a different matter ...

Phosphate media also needs a slow flow to keep it from disintegrating

ya make sure you use ball valves , i made the mistake of putting a different valve... well let's just say that i ended up with water all over the place :doubt:.

Also make sure you have unions around the valves so that when a valve fails, you can replace it (or use true-union valves - much more expensive).

Yeah, you need really slow flow through some phosban media. I mean slow enough to where it it won't tumble. A slight surface aggitation of the media is fine, but you really don't want the media tumbling.

Those are ball valves - they are just made with a true union on each side. Ideally, you buy at least one more than you need. Then you can swap-out the valve if you need to.
