I wouldn't do it. Go with .500" and even then, watch the front verticals closely. Or, just ad a 1" wide radiused top to it. E-mail me if you have any questions, Jason
 
You could use 3/8 but it may flex a little, 1/2 would be the best for it as JPG said. 1/4 would be fine for the bottom. I used to build custom tanks for a living also.
 
3/4 in not necessary, the seams on it are just really pretty. 1/2 you can probably go to a plastic place and get the sizes you need from the scrap pile which is pretty cheap.
 
Oh wow, I did not think of the scrap piles. I asked them about rates, and they said...

7.5$/sqr ft of 1/4
12$/sqr ft of 3/8
18$/sqr ft of 1/2

but these are all custom cut pieces.
 
It's cheaper if you can cut it yourself, if not that's not to bad. Did you try a place called calsek ( or something like that ) in Tacoma. There's also laird in Seattle

its called kel-tech plastics thats where i got my stuff to build my fuge..they were the cheapest around that would do custom cuts.
