Cyano algae?

I replaced 3 gallons with RO water and since a little bit spilled during the bag transfer to my fancy water mixer aka gallon pitcher I had to replace about 1/2 gal with tap so i did about a 3 1/2 gal change

Wow i'm noticing now that all my bullseye mushrooms are expelling white snot type strings from their bodies

whoops i tried pulling them LOL...i'll try and get some pics of later tonight i have alot of zoas now and mushrooms and a xenia stalk along with GSPs...its really coming along

Eh, it only costs me 1$ to get my water change :-D

No, that's cool. I'm a fanatic about my water source is all. A dollar spent is a good deal, but knowing exactly the purity of my water source is priceless. Especially when it comes to nuisance algaes. ;)

I have used it a few times, worked for me with no issues. Your skimmer will go nuts for a few days(5 for me). It will kill the cyano but will not remove any underlying issues so it will come back if you do not control the nutrients.

Well I have no skimmer so...and my last 7 gallons of water change have been of RO and distilled water so I don't get why it won't go away

Very very true.

I haven't used any products like this before so I don't really know, BUT... I think you should just keep up on your tank husbandry and call it good bro. Your tank is brand new still, so things like this happen. You just need to address the source of the problem, over-feeding, not enough flow, etc.

I would leave any other crap you don't find in the ocean out of the tank, stir your sand bed a bit (like the top .5cm) and address your flow issues mentioned in your other thread. After you get your params in line (your nitrates were gnarly, cyno loves that) and get comfortable with your tank (in another 2-3 months) I bet you your entire outlook will change on the hobby. I bet you will debate even putting your hands in the tank let alone buffers, chemicals or other junk. Sit back, enjoy the purpley-red cyno colors for a bit, and it will subside if you treat the disease (more flow, less nutrients, go get a skimmer :p) and not the symptoms (anti bacterial).

Seriously though, the ocean doesn't have little bottles of anti-cyno medication floating around.

I put the cap back on and it looks brand new still so i'll just return it muahahahaha

Are you kidding? You wouldn't do a dishonest, immature thing like that, now would you?

I had a cyano problem that ended a month ago. I did water changes with ro water, increased flow and water changes but my skimmer was not working right. I finally used a chem made by blue life I belive that worked wonders and not that my cyano is gone it hasen't come back probally partly due to the fact my skimmer is whooping butt again. Good luck with it hope you get it before it takes over your tank
