I have been fighting with a cyano outbrak for awhile now. I have managed to get it off of my sand and rocks but not off of the GSP colony. I have used a brush to gently remove it and have also been dosing chemiclean to kill the cyano. In all it has worked but not on the GSP. Im slowly seeing the polups diapear and the cyano taking over on the base purple matt. Any ideas?

also maybe take the coral out and put it in a bucket of SW and swish all the cyano off it in the bucket>?

Its a large rock and it has been growing there for a bit... I would have to dip the whole rock and really dont want to do that.

here is a pic...

Do all of your actions in the morning. Before lights on. Be Sure to do chemiclean then too. When the lights come on the cyno will swell and stretch out. And if you do the chemiclean then, then it will absorb maximum dose and help kill it. Do the pulling befor lights cuz the cyno shriveled and thick so you get more out and less tends to break off.

Ill give it a try.

Along with that find out why it started in the beginning feeding, water movement, light ( random darker spot with low flow).
