Hello;
Every tank has cyano bacteria and it usually grows where water flow is low and food/detris collects. Just clean it when you clean your glass and check behind rocks that lay up against the glass.
I have increased my cleaners -- snails and hermits to 1-per gallon and still get some around the glass. I also use a bottle brush to lightly go over the areas of live rock that collect food particles/detris and grow cyano. I also use a turkey baster to blast my rock to remove mostly snail waste.
IMHO increased water flow just drives the particles of waste down between the glass and subtrate --- but it helps keep waste and food off rocks etc. Check your filters and make sure filter floss/polyester fill traps these small particles. I change my basket of floss once a week to reduce nitrates.

If your sand doesn't get stirred up, will keep growing cyano and or Coraline. Just scrape it off every couple months or so.

Suck it out & use that as an export, it isn't a bad algae to have & a great nutrient export. Mike, don't know why you need to scrape it off sand?

Scooty not scrape the sand, scrape the glass. Joker is looking at the red color up against the glass below the sand level

Joker, it will probably continue to grow back until you deplete whatever it is feeding off of, probably from the sand, you may want to do as said increase the flow down there some & practice vacuuming lightly over the sand surface during wc's & right now, I'd do a few super large wc's back to back to help knock it down some.
Believe it or not, LARGE wc's will help you fight most algae just because your keeping a glass box of water that isn't constantly replaced, every so often you need to jump on those large changes to straighten things up.
