Ok I been up and running for about 2 weeks 70 gal with 125 pounds live rock
and Red Grape Calupera in the Refugium all RO/DI water :?: .Yesterday I did a 10 gallon water change after cleaning die off from the LR and it did nothing to my test result.

Amonia 0
Nitrate 100
Nitrite 4.0
PH 8.2

What should I do next? Should I wait some more or should I add something to the tank such as a fish. My test results have been the same for a week now no change . Water is crystal clear . All my testing equipment is Salifert I hope that Im reading the results correctly. I always Question myself with test results do they sound about right. When should I expect the Nitrites to go down.Should both the Nitrites & Nitrates be so high at the same time?

Thanks for any hep! :)

Yes in my opinion they should be so high at the same time. You cycle is close to finished. You are doing the right thing. Be paitent It will work. As soon as you get a week of 0 nitrite/ ammonia. You nitrates should be at thier maximum level. Do your water changes to get the nitrates back down below 20 and then start adding you fish. It takes a while to get nitrates back down from the inital cycle. Especially when they are that high. After you finish the cycle add some polybiomarine polyfilters. They will help absorb alot of junk as well. HTH Steve

Your still in the early stages of cycling, keep up your wc's & give it a few more weeks, don't jump in with fish until you can get a 0,0,0 reading all of these should read 0. If you jump in soon, your asking to stress fish, give them better chances of getting sick or even loose some, unless your an experienced reefer this is the safest way to a good start. Saliflert makes great test kits, probably the easiest to understand also. There are other ways to speed up cycling but starting out with newly purchased lr even though it is claimed to be cured fully, you still need to let your tank cycle, ammonia can spike off the charts & then go down very rapidly, so don't be fooled by a 0 reading until you get them all down to 0.
